The series is averaging only 12.1 million viewers per game, and game one in Kansas City drew 12.2 million television viewers making it the worst game one rating on record. Sunday Night Football beat game five of the series by a 39% margin, the biggest difference since the World Series started competing with Sunday Night Football in 2010.

Although the television audience for the 2014 World Series isn’t very interested, the fans trying to get into the stadiums certainly are.

Tonight’s game is currently the second most expensive game seven that has taken place in the U.S.  for the past five years. According to TiqIQ, the average price of a ticket to attend tonight’s game in Kansas City is $1,065 and the cheapest pair of tickets available is $507 a piece.

The last time the World Series went to seven games was in 2012, when the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Texas Rangers to win the series. The average price per ticket for that game was $948.

The World Series ticket price averages in the past four years have been $766. $634, $618 and $797, but not a single game of the 2014 games averaged a ticket price below $800.

If the current price for tonight’s game holds, about $40 million will have been spent to fill Kaufmann Stadium in Kansas City.
