Gold-plated lineup of NHL's highest-paid players

These six players have the NHL's highest average annual salary at their positions.

The puck drops on the 2014-15 NHL season tonight, so we organized the highest-paid lineup — three forwards, two defensemen and one goalie — in the league by average salary. These six players average $8.9 million in annual salary, which equates to approximately 13 percent of their team’s ($69 million) salary cap this season. In the Penguins’ case, with Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby, it’s 26 percent. Here is the highest-paid lineup in the NHL for the 2014-15 season:
