Highest-paid MLB All-Star omissions

Many of baseball's biggest stars, and biggest contracts, were noticeably absent from last night's All-Star Game.

In the most recent list of Forbes’ World’s Highest-Paid Athletes, 27 out of the top 100 were baseball players.  And 12 of those 27 weren’t selected to the MLB All-Star Game. The trend with these players is no surprise — all play for large market franchises and have been the recipients of the exorbitant contracts that only those franchises can dole out to the game’s stars. Years after signing, those contracts rarely look good for the franchise.
