AL All-Stars make 30 percent more than NL counterparts

Tuesday's MLB All-Star game will feature over $500 million in combined 2014 salary between the two rosters.

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game features the season’s best first-half performers, and some of the most expensive contracts. Interestingly, there’s a considerable discrepancy between league salaries: Based on the initial 34-man rosters, American League All-Stars average $9.5 million in salary, while National League All-Stars average $6.7 million. The NL has fewer players on long-term free-agent contracts and more in their arbitration and pre-arbitration years.

There will be over $551 million worth of 2014 salary on the field Tuesday when the All-Stars line up for pregame player introductions.  Here are the top individual salaries among this year’s All-Stars:
