Over the years, the French Open has developed long lasting relationships with sponsors such as BNP Paribas, Lacoste, and watch company Longines. All three French firms have been committed to the tournament for years. Of the three, BNP Paribas has established the most successful and long-standing partnership. BNP Paribas Spokeswoman Michele Sicard explains that tennis fits the company’s mission, because both tennis and the bank are “international and abide by principles of fair play.”

BNP Paribas describes their corporate values as “responsiveness, creativity, commitment, and ambition.” The bank’s logo is described as “four stars taking flight . . . a symbol of dynamism and progress.” Both the bank and the French Open have parallel traits and characteristics, making the two a tailor-made partnership, exemplified by their longstanding relationship.

The partnership began in 1973 when the French Tennis Federation (FTF) asked BNP Paribas to finance the construction of the private box seats in the center court of the Roland-Garros. Since then, the bank has been committed to being the official partner of the French Open. As of last year, they have had a 40-year relationship, exemplifying a true partnership. Both have benefited from the success of the prestigious two-week tournament in Paris.

To celebrate their passion for tennis, BNP Paribas has created a unique digital experience on their new web site, portraying 40 years with the grand slam. It is an online experience that shows the spirit of the one-of-the-kind relationship.  The site is also dedicated to up-to-date tennis news.
